Arkansas Razorbacks offensive lineman Fernando Carmona was ridiculed after video caught him stepping on the ankle of a Texas Tech participant throughout the Liberty Bowl over the weekend.
Carmona broke his silence on the matter, apologizing for what transpired.
“I’d wish to apologize for my actions final Friday night time within the Liberty Bowl,” Carmona posted on X. “I let me feelings get away from me. I’ve nothing however respect for Texas Tech and the sport of soccer. I apologize to my crew and coaches. I’m not that form of participant and can study from this.”

Many took exception to Carmona stepping on C.J. Baskerville’s ankle, and the thought it was completed deliberately was put on the market. Some even mentioned they needed him “banned perpetually” from the sport.
Carmona’s actions led to fast ache for Baskerville. In the meantime, Carmona tried to play it off like he was serving to a teammate off the turf.
Baskerville accused Carmona of committing a “soiled” play.
“There’s no denying that Arkansas played a great game final night time, I’m not taking that away from them. However #55 Fernando Carmona blatantly stepping on my ankle and urgent down on it on goal is straight up soiled,” Baskerville wrote on X on Saturday.

“Proceeds to say “received your b**** a***.” Do higher.”
This incident occurred throughout the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks’ 39-26 win over the Crimson Raiders to win the bowl recreation.
Baskerville was Texas Tech’s main tackler within the recreation, too, with 10 whole in addition to one cross deflection. He had 52 whole tackles with 4 interceptions in his senior season.

Carmona is a junior who spent the 2023-24 season with the San Jose State Spartans earlier than transferring to Arkansas.
