Haq says he and his Canadian spouse, Sophia Papp, wakened in “disbelief” as they face the prospect of being compelled in a foreign country after what the couple describes as abureaucratic snafu derailed a spousal utility for his everlasting residency.
Haq, who co-founded the activist group Save Outdated Progress as a global scholar, pleaded responsible to 5 fees of mischief in 2023 over his function in environmental protests that blocked roadways in 2021 and 2022.
