The Financial institution of Canada (in French: Banque du Canada) is Canada’s central financial institution. It was created by the Financial institution of Canada Act of 1934, to “promote the financial and monetary well-being of Canada.” It’s the sole issuer of banknotes in Canada, and the central financial institution for the Canadian greenback. The financial institution’s headquarters are situated within the Financial institution of Canada Constructing on the nook of Wellington and Financial institution Streets in downtown Ottawa.
