Bell Canada is providing severance packages to 1,200 unionized workers, attributing the transfer to “unprecedented challenges” within the telecom trade, a spokesperson confirmed to CBC Information on Tuesday.
The corporate is introducing what the spokesperson referred to as an “enhanced voluntary separation program” for eligible workers, which it says will give them the choice to retire or discover work elsewhere. Bell Media just isn’t included within the voluntary buyout program.
