A 16-year-old boy is going through a number of weapons and menace expenses after an early morning arrest in Halifax.
Halifax Regional Police (HRP) mentioned they made the arrest on the teen’s residence at 3 a.m. Wednesday, and seized “a quantity” of weapons.
They allege the youth had made threats to deliver weapons to Citadel Excessive Faculty.
“Police don’t imagine there’s an ongoing menace to the college and don’t imagine anybody else is concerned within the incident,” HRP mentioned in a launch, including that officers are on the college at present to help college students and workers.

In line with police, the boy, whose id is protected by the Youth Prison Justice Act, will seem in youth courtroom Thursday to face the next expenses:
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a harmful goal (2 counts)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon and not using a license
- Uttering threats
Lindsey Bunin, a spokesperson for Halifax Regional Centre for Schooling, mentioned college directors realized concerning the potential menace on Wednesday after they had been contacted by police.
“Police say they don’t imagine there’s an ongoing menace to security. Officers are on website on the college at present as a precaution. Faculty counsellors can be found to college students who want to join at any time,” Bunin wrote in an e mail, including they had been grateful to police for his or her help.
“As at all times, the protection of scholars and workers is HRCE’s prime precedence. All potential threats are taken significantly and addressed by administration in accordance with the Provincial Faculty Code of Conduct, and by police.”
Halifax Regional Police Chief Don MacLean can be talking to reporters Thursday afternoon to replace the investigation.
