Canada’s Reece Howden raced to a gold-medal victory on Saturday on the ski cross World Cup cease in Innichen, Italy.
The Cultus Lake, B.C., native was the lone Canadian to make it to the finals and held off silver medallist Alex Fiva, of Switzerland, to be the primary to cross the end line.
Italy’s Simone Deromedis rounded out the lads’s podium, taking bronze.
It is Howden’s second win of the season, after selecting up gold in Arosa, Switzerland earlier this month.
The Canadian is second within the males’s general standings with 296 factors, trailing Germany’s Florian Wilmsmann and his 310 factors.

On the ladies’s facet, India Sherret, of Cranbrook, B.C., made Saturday’s large closing at Innichen however didn’t end.
Germany’s Daniela Maier gained gold, Italy’s Jole Galli snagged silver, and Marielle Sabbatel Berger of France took bronze.
Fellow Canadians Hannah Schmidt (Ottawa), Marielle Thompson (Whistler, B.C.), and Courtney Hoffos (Windermere, B.C.) took the highest three spots within the small closing.
On the vacation break, Sherret is the highest Canadian within the World Cup standings with 325 factors, simply 5 factors forward of teammate Thompson. Maier is within the lead with 369 factors.
