BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Collins Correctional Facility is on lockdown as of midday Wednesday following an incident on the jail earlier within the morning.
The New York State Division of Corrections stated that every one workers and inmates are accounted for and secure.
A union spokesperson instructed WIVB Information 4’s Dillon Morello that a few of these imprisoned have barricaded themselves inside a dorm. No guards or staffers have been inside on the time.
New York State Police stated that they’ve been made conscious and are on standby prepared to help if wanted.
Throughout a lockdown, all inmates are confined to their cells and their actions are considerably restricted. It’s not identified when the lockdown can be lifted.
