The Canadian firm that processed plant-based milk linked to a lethal listeria outbreak has completely closed all 4 of its vegetation.
A spokesperson for Toronto-based Joriki stated the closures meant nearly all of Joriki’s workers have been laid off when it shuttered its two vegetation in Ontario, one in B.C. and one in Pennsylvania owned by a subsidiary.
The spokesperson stated as the corporate is pursuing creditor safety, it doesn’t have the funds to take care of operations and doesn’t plan to reopen the vegetation.

Joriki has filed for creditor manufacturing and says it plans to restructure its enterprise.
The Canadian Meals Inspection Company stated a manufacturing line on the firm’s Pickering, Ont., utilized by plant-milk producer Danone Canada, was the supply of a listeria outbreak that led to a few deaths between August 2023 and July 2024.
The Joriki spokesperson stated the corporate is exploring potential transactions that will see its amenities acquired, and which may result in the purchasers providing former workers new jobs.
