An escaped California inmate needed for killing the chief of an elite Mexican police unit whereas on the run was arrested in Tijuana, Mexico.
Cesar Hernandez, 34, was arrested Thursday by Mexico’s State Investigation Company.
Hernandez was needed in reference to the capturing loss of life of 33-year-old Abigail Esparza Reyes, the chief of the Mexican police unit often known as the “Gringo Hunters,” which goals to seize U.S. suspects who’re fugitives in Mexico.

Esparza Reyes was killed throughout a shootout on April 9 in Tijuana whereas the unit was making an attempt to arrest Hernandez.

Hernandez was serving 80 years to life with the potential of parole in California for first-degree homicide earlier than escaping from custody on December 2. He was being transported to the Kern County Superior Courthouse in Delano for a court docket look when he jumped out of the van and ran away.
He was held at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano earlier than his escape. He was handed over to Kern County from Los Angeles County in 2019.
