Dan Coulter, a former member of British Columbia’s legislature and a New Democrat cupboard minister, has died at age 49.
The BC New Democratic Occasion says in an announcement that Coulter was a “devoted advocate” for the individuals of B.C.
The social gathering says Coulter “at all times championed the underdog,” citing his work within the legislature after his election in Chilliwack in 2020, his former function of chair of the Chilliwack faculty board and because the Parliamentary secretary for accessibility and minister of state for infrastructure and transit.
The social gathering’s provincial director Heather Stoutenburg stated final week in an announcement that Coulter had “skilled a severe medical emergency” and was being handled in hospital.
The social gathering says a personal service will likely be held for Coulter on Saturday and an area public service will likely be held in Chilliwack on Jan. 11.
The social gathering says that Coulter, who misplaced his bid for re-election within the October provincial election, was “the perfect of us,” and it extends its “deepest condolences to his household, pals and everybody who had the privilege of understanding and dealing with him.”

It says that as an alternative of flowers, his household has requested that donations go to the Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Affiliation, Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society, and the BC SPCA.
“To these of us who knew him, Dan was a lot greater than a colleague — he was a buddy and a mentor,” the assertion says. “He was sensible, humorous, considerate and sincere. However above all issues, he was variety.”
