Negotiations held in Cairo to succeed in a ceasefire in Gaza had been witnessing a “important breakthrough,” two Egyptian safety sources told Reuters on Monday.
The sources mentioned there was a consensus on a long-term ceasefire within the besieged enclave, but some sticking factors stay, together with Hamas arms.

Hamas repeatedly mentioned it was not prepared to put down its arms, a key demand for Israel.

Earlier, Egyptian state-affiliated Al Qahera Information TV reported Egyptian intelligence chief Basic Hassan Mahmoud Rashad is about to satisfy an Israeli delegation headed by strategic affairs minister Ron Dermer on Monday in Cairo.
