The L.A. County Public Defender’s Union, Los Angeles Individuals’s Metropolis Council and Justice LA posted to social media advocating for the evacuation of Pitchess inmates.
“We demand that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the sheriff’s division take swift motion to guard the lives of the 1000’s of incarcerated people entrusted to their care,” the general public defender’s union wrote in a press release posted on X.
“We’re deeply alarmed by the upcoming danger this catastrophe poses to the well being and security of our purchasers,” the union wrote. “They need to not be uncared for or deserted throughout this vital second.”
