Josh Brolin joked about quitting performing as he criticized the Academy for snubbing “Dune: Half Two” director Denis Villeneuve.
Brolin, who has starred in each “Dune” and “Dune: Part Two,” had beforehand threatened to give up performing if Villeneuve’s work within the sequel weren’t acknowledged.
“Simply wish to say congratulations on the ‘Dune’ greatest image nomination, to Greig Fraser on cinematography, for greatest visible results, for Patrice [Vermett] on manufacturing design and for sound,” Brolin mentioned in a video shared to his Instagram story. “Apparently, I’m going to give up performing as a result of Denis Villeneuve didn’t get nominated.”
“That is simply how this factor works,” he added. “It is mindless to me. That’s OK. [Editor] Joe Walker and Denis, you deserve it. It’s a tremendous movie. It was even higher than the primary one. The individuals who have gotten accolades certainly deserve it. Comfortable to be part of it. Congrats everybody.”

Brolin praised the “Dune” sequel as a “higher film” than the primary, as he threatened to give up the business in November.
“If he doesn’t get nominated this 12 months, I’ll give up performing,” Brolin told Variety. “It was a greater film than the primary one. After I watched it, it felt like my mind was damaged open. It’s masterful, and Denis is considered one of our grasp filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any that means by any means, they’ll acknowledge him.”
