Kalob Wayne Byers was recognized because the American citizen taken into custody in Russia on a drug smuggling cost, in accordance with media stories.

Byers was allegedly carrying hashish gummies on the time of his detention.
He has been charged with smuggling narcotic medicine into the nation and will resist 10 years in jail, TASS reported.

“A chemical evaluation revealed the presence of narcotic substances from the cannabinoid group,” the customs service reported, in accordance with TASS, including the person claimed his U.S. physician had prescribed the gummies.
Information of Byers’ detention comes as Marc Fogel, a U.S. citizen who was detained on drug expenses in Russia 4 years in the past, was launched on Tuesday in alternate for Russian prisoner Alexander Vinnik, who had been detained by the U.S. authorities on cryptocurrency fraud expenses.

Fogel, a historical past trainer from Pennsylvania, was serving a 14-year jail sentence after his arrest in August 2021 at a Russian airport for being in possession of medication, which his household and supporters stated had been medically prescribed marijuana.
