    Litecoin X account briefly hacked to promote a fake token

    Litecoin’s (LTC) X social media account was briefly hacked on Jan. 11 by a scammer selling a fraudulent Litecoin token on the Solana community.  

    “LTC is now in Solana,” the hacker wrote in a now-deleted and grammatically incorrect put up, which featured a contract handle and a pump.enjoyable hyperlink to the rip-off token.

    Restaking protocol EigenLayer’s X account was hacked on Oct. 18 to advertise a faux airdrop marketing campaign.

    The hacker posted a number of malicious hyperlinks from the account selling the “Season 2 Stakedrop” — which the scammer claimed was sourced from reallocated EIGEN tokens — earlier than the EigenLayer workforce regained management of the account.

    On Nov. 3, rapper Wiz Khalifa’s account was compromised. The hacker used the account to promote a faux superstar memecoin referred to as WIZ, claiming that the memecoin was related to the musical artist.

    The Cardano Basis’s X account suffered a similar breach on Dec. 8, when a hacker took management of the social media web page to advertise a faux token referred to as “ADAsol.”

    Through the incident, the menace actor falsely claimed that the Cardano Basis would stop supporting its native asset, ADA (ADA), attributable to a lawsuit from the US Securities and Change Fee (SEC).

    The faux token generated roughly $500,000 in buying and selling quantity earlier than the rip-off was uncovered and the value of “ADAsol” plummeted by over 99%.

    Yat Siu, co-founder of Web3 firm Animoca Manufacturers, was the victim of an X account hack on Dec. 26.
