Two males have been taken to hospital – one in a “critical situation” – following a “main battle within the city centre” with officers making two arrests.
Suffolk Police have been referred to as to Excessive Road, Newmarket, at round 15:40 GMT on Saturday, following a report of an “altercation” involving “a quantity” of individuals. It added that two individuals wanted medical remedy.
The East of England Ambulance service instructed the BBC: “It was a significant battle within the city centre. Three ambulances have been despatched. One affected person, a male, was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital in a critical situation.”
Two males, aged 26 and 23 from Newmarket, have been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily hurt, police stated.
In a social media post, the drive beforehand stated the street had been closed in each instructions, however it has since reopened.
A police spokesperson requested witnesses or individuals with details about the incident to “contact Bury St Edmunds Police quoting reference 37/12771/25”.
