It was a proud second for Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida when his son, Anthony Rubio, scored his first collegiate landing within the Florida Gators’ blowout victory over Tulane within the Gasparilla Bowl on Friday evening.
Anthony Rubio, a walk-on to the staff, scored on a late nine-yard run with simply over a minute remaining to extend Florida’s lopsided lead to 33-8 in what marked the Gator’s fourth straight victory.
“Nice to complete the proper manner,” Florida coach Billy Napier stated of the play.

The sport was already determined at that time, however Rubio’s teammates rushed to crowd round him and have a good time his first rating in his first college football game.
“It was insane,” he advised Florida beat author Jesse Simmons of his teammate’s celebration. “First, I wish to thank God for that, it wouldn’t have occurred [without] Him.”
As any proud guardian would, Senator Rubio took to social media to reward his son’s accomplishments.
“Glad my son scored,” he wrote in a submit on X. “However what I’m really pleased with is the enjoyment from his teammates and that he gave all of the glory to God.”

Rubio joined the Gators’ soccer program as a walk-on working again in 2023. He redshirted his first 12 months and didn’t see any motion till Friday’s recreation. He wrapped up the sport with 32 dashing yards and one rating on the bottom.
