Manitoba Schooling Minister Nello Altomare has died after a battle with most cancers.
Altomare, who was 61, labored as a faculty principal earlier than being elected in 2019 to symbolize Winnipeg’s Transcona driving for the New Democrats within the legislature.
He was identified with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma shortly after being elected and underwent chemotherapy.

Premier Wab Kinew paid tribute to Altomare on social media, praising his work to increase faculty diet applications throughout the province.
The Manitoba Faculty Boards Affiliation stated Altomare was a proud and outspoken supporter of public training.
“He was refreshingly direct when needed, all the time respectful and possessed a eager sense of humour,” affiliation president Sandy Nemeth stated in a written assertion.
“His presence at Manitoba Faculty Boards Affiliation conferences and occasions underscored our collaborative efforts, and he all the time made time to have interaction with trustees.”
Kelvin Goertzen, a longtime Progressive Conservative politician who was training minister within the former Tory authorities, recalled having espresso with Altomare, who was the NDP training critic on the time.
