Texas Rep. Sylvester Turner, the previous mayor of Houston, has died immediately at 70 years previous, simply two months after becoming a member of Congress.
Present Houston Mayor John Whitmire introduced Turner’s loss of life firstly of a metropolis council assembly on Wednesday, per local news reports.
In keeping with Whitmire, Turner was taken to the hospital on Tuesday, after attending President Donald Trump’s deal with to Congress. He was later pronounced lifeless.
“This comes as a shock to everybody,” mentioned Whitmire, as he requested that flags throughout Houston be lowered to half-mast. “I might ask Houstonians to come back collectively, pray for his household, be part of us in celebrating this exceptional public servant. Turner was mayor of Houston from 2016 to 2024, and noticed town by Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic.
