Apr. 25—Sinclair Group School will use $1.6 million just lately permitted by the state to deliver a new-tech flight simulator — in addition to chiller system upgrades — to campus.
The Ohio Controlling Board permitted Sinclair’s ask for a $500,000 appropriation for a flight simulator, together with a waiver that permits the faculty “to buy the BETA Tools for customized coaching packages venture in Montgomery County.”

State Rep. Desiree Tims, D-Dayton, stated she pushed for the funding, and confirmed that the flight simulator will come from BETA Applied sciences, a 2017-founded Vermont aviation firm that makes a speciality of electrical flight.
Tims’ workplace stated the simulator will help the faculty’s Superior Air Mobility and Unmanned Plane Methods (UAS) program. The faculty will put in its personal $45,000 to make the acquisition.
In an interview with this outlet, Tims characterised the $500,000 as “essential” for Sinclair and a option to promote jobs and financial growth within the area.
