“Star Wars” actor Angus MacInnes, who was finest recognized for Jon “Dutch” Vander in two of the franchise’s movies, has died. He was 77.

In an announcement shared to the actor’s Fb web page on Monday, MacInnes’ household confirmed that he handed away on Dec. 23.
“To all Angus’ followers world wide, with breaking hearts we write this: Angus MacInnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, good friend, and actor died on twenty third of December 2024. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his household and love,” they wrote.

MacInnes performed Vander, a spaceship pilot who was the chief of the rise up’s Gold Squadron within the franchise’s first movie, 1977’s “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.” The Canada native returned to the franchise to voice his character in 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which marked his final film role.
Of their Fb submit, MacInnes’ household recalled the actor’s love for his “Star Wars” followers.
“For Angus, the followers of Star Wars held a particular place in his coronary heart,” they shared. “He beloved assembly you at conventions, listening to your tales, and sharing in your ardour for the saga. He was frequently humbled, delighted, and honoured by the admiration and fervour of the followers and conference group.”
