Burnaby RCMP say they’ve arrested a suspect in a December hit-and-run collision that left a 64-year-old lady severely injured.
The RCMP’s Legal Collision Investigation Group arrested the 45-year-old Burnaby man on Thursday. He has not been recognized, as fees have but to be accepted within the case.
The crash occurred on the intersection of Canada Manner and Burris Road on Dec. 11.
Maria Espedido suffered seven damaged ribs, harm to her liver and lungs, and a fracture in her proper arm so extreme it required the insertion of a metal plate.
The collision was captured in stunning dashcam video that confirmed Espedido strolling in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car showing to make a left flip. The car then drives away with out slowing down.
A GoFundMe for Espedido, who works as a care aide, has raised just below $20,000.
