A person arrested in Curacao on suspicion of involvement in a legal gang linked to the homicide of Dutch journalist Peter R. de Vries arrived in The Netherlands on Tuesday to face justice, prosecutors stated.
The nationwide prosecutor’s workplace stated in an announcement that the person, whose identification was not launched, performed a “main position” in a legal gang that’s considered behind the brazen taking pictures of De Vries on July 6, 2021, on a busy Amsterdam avenue. The favored pioneering journalist died 9 days later of his accidents, aged 64.
The suspect, who has been incarcerated in Curacao, a former Dutch colony, since 2014, was arrested on Monday, prosecutors stated in an announcement. No element was given why he was in a detention middle on the Caribbean island.
He’s scheduled to seem earlier than a Justice of the Peace in Amsterdam, prosecution spokesperson Brechtje van de Moosdijk informed The Related Press.
The person is the newest suspect detained within the investigation into the killing of De Vries. An Amsterdam courtroom convicted three males in June 2024 of homicide for his or her roles within the taking pictures that despatched a shockwave by the nation. Three others have been convicted of complicity within the homicide.

Taghi was convicted of his position in 5 gangland killings and sentenced to life in jail in February. Judges referred to as him the “undisputed chief” of a “homicide group.” Taghi has appealed the convictions.
