Canadians travelling to the USA for longer journeys are being reminded of new registration rules that may kick in subsequent month.
The Canadian authorities updated its travel advisory for the U.S. on Friday, notifying travellers planning to go south and keep for greater than 30 days that they are going to be required to register with the U.S. authorities.
The rule was a part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Defending the American Individuals Towards Invasion” government order, which was signed on Jan. 20 and applies to anybody who is just not an American citizen or everlasting resident.
“Canadians and different international nationals visiting the USA for intervals longer than 30 days should be registered with the USA authorities,” Canada’s journey advisory states.
“Failure to adjust to the registration requirement may lead to penalties, fines, and misdemeanor prosecution.”
