WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned on Tuesday he has instructed the Justice Division to terminate all remaining Biden-era U.S. attorneys, asserting that the division had been “politicized like by no means earlier than.”
“We should ‘clear home’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age should have a good Justice System – THAT BEGINS TODAY,” Trump mentioned in a publish on Reality Social.

The Justice Division didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
Final week, the White Home despatched termination notices to a number of U.S. Attorneys across the nation who had been appointed by Democratic former President Joe Biden.
On Monday, a number of U.S. attorneys appointed by Biden introduced they had been stepping down. Others left the federal government final week.
Whereas it’s customary for U.S. Attorneys to step down after a change within the presidential administration, often the incoming administration asks for his or her resignations and doesn’t concern tersely worded termination letters, present and former Justice Division legal professionals say.
The termination of the U.S. attorneys, who function the highest federal regulation enforcement officers of their districts, is the most recent in shake-ups on the Justice Division since Trump took workplace final month.
