A tremendous sight off the west coast of Vancouver Island has been captured on digicam and all of it started when a whale was noticed surfacing in Barkley Sound.
The humpback whale, together with some sea lions, was going after a bait ball, which is a swarm of small fish that swim collectively to guard themselves from predators.
Cinematographer Peter Mieras was testing his underwater digicam when it fell to the underside of the sound.
By sheer likelihood, when he retrieved the digicam, he found it had captured some wonderful footage of the humpback feeding on the bait ball.
