A United Airways flight that was headed to Phoenix on Jan. 12 was diverted after the plane struck a coyote.
“On Sunday morning, United flight 1727 safely returned to Chicago O’Hare Worldwide Airport to look at the plane after its touchdown gear struck a coyote throughout takeoff,” a United spokesperson informed Fox Information Digital.
“We organized for an additional airplane to take our clients to their vacation spot later that afternoon.”
Six crew members and 167 passengers have been on board the Boeing 737 MAX 9 when the incident happened.
Fox Information Digital reached out to O’Hare International Airport for remark.

In November, an American Airlines flight diverted to O’Hare after placing a hen, Fox Information Digital reported.
The pilots have been capable of safely land the airplane and return to the gate with out incident, an airline spokesperson stated on the time.
There have been no reviews of accidents to any passengers or crew members.
There have been greater than 17,200 wildlife strikes at U.S. airports in 2023, in response to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Between 1990 and 2023, the FAA accounted for roughly 310,000 collisions between plane and animals, most commonly birds.

Chicago has seen a rise in coyote sightings this winter, in response to FOX 32.
On Monday, animal management officers have been referred to as to take away a coyote that entered an Aldi grocery retailer, the outlet reported.

A spokesperson for Chicago Animal Care and Management informed FOX 32 that “January by March is mating season for coyotes, resulting in extra visibility because the animals roam throughout daytime to determine territories and discover mates.”
Deputy Chief Greg Czernecki of Arlington Heights Police stated, “Preserve your animals on a leash, and ensure fenced yards are safe.”
