A passenger has died after trying to leap overboard a Princess Cruises ship whereas it was en route again to Florida after a pre-Christmas cruise across the Caribbean.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, 21 December, on the Sky Princess, which was on its remaining day of an eight-day Western Caribbean voyage.
The vessel left Fort Lauderdale on 15 December, earlier than crusing to Princess Cays within the Bahamas, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman Island and Cozumel, and crusing again into Port Everglades on Sunday.
The unnamed girl’s loss of life was confirmed by Princess Cruises in a press release to Cruise Radio: “Princess Cruises is deeply saddened to verify the passing of a 48-year-old American feminine visitor who tried to leap overboard earlier at the moment aboard Sky Princess.
“The visitor fell to a decrease deck, the place she was promptly rescued.
“Shipboard personnel instantly supplied emergency medical care, however regardless of their greatest efforts, she couldn’t be revived.”

A TikTok posted by an obvious passenger on the Sky Princess recorded an announcement being performed onboard after the girl’s loss of life.
It confirmed to passengers that the girl had tried to leap overboard and had fallen onto a decrease deck and regardless of the efforts of personnel couldn’t be saved.
The announcer acknowledged that the occasion “could also be distressing for a lot of of you” and provided assist providers to any of the visitors who felt impacted.
The incident comes weeks after one other Princess Cruises passenger aboard the Ruby Princess was feared dead after falling overboard.
The 72-year-old man is believed to have died after falling overboard earlier than docking in San Francisco following a Princess Cruises voyage to Mexico.
The passenger, who has not been recognized, reportedly fell from the Ruby Princess ship following a five-day journey to Ensenada, Mexico, that departed 27 November.
When the vessel docked in San Francisco round 6.50am on Monday the person was reported lacking.
The cruise line confirmed that the male passenger had been travelling alone.
Following a number of searches of the ship and a evaluation of CCTV footage, the disappearance was dominated as a “man overboard incident” by the cruise line “having dominated out different potentialities”.
